What is Erno Laszlo Beta Wash and Beta Mask?

Erno Laszlo Beta Wash and Mask is a 2 product acne line developed by Dr. Erno Laszlo, that uses the power of Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) to gently interrupt the acne production cycle by deeply penetrating pores and absorbing oil without drying the skin.

The Beta Wash is antiseptic gel cleanser designed for normal to oily skin.  It is formulated oil-free with salicylic acid, algae extracts, and chamomile that detoxify the skin,calm irritation and inflammation, and dissolve oil, dead skin cells, makeup and other impurities that tend to clog the pores and cause breakouts.

The Beta Mask is a weekly leave-on mask that contains 1% salicylic acid and other natural ingredients to reduce oil production and cleanse pores while healing hyper sensitive blemished skin.

• Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid that is extracted from white willow bark.  It is able to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin, breaking down blackheads and whiteheads by peeling the top layer of skin. It has exfoliating and antiseptic properties and assists in shedding and breaking down dead skin cells that can cause acne.
• Chamomile contains phenolic derivatives, which have an antiseptic, healing qualities to calm irritation and inflammation and neutralize bacteria.
• Rosemary, Sage, and Myrrh are herb extracts that have natural healing properties to accelerate healthy cell turnover.

• Willow Bark is used as an antiseptic and has anti-inflammatory properties and increases circulation.  This reduces and absorbs excess oil on the skin that leads to breakouts.
• Peppermint and Eucalyptus fight bacteria while soothing irritation and inflammation.
• Calendula, Arnica and Sage are all natural herb extracts that tone and moisturize the skin.

Honestly, this product doesn’t get me all that excited.  It seems like another basic acne line that uses salicylic acid as a main ingredient which is great but you can also find similar products at the grocery store for a fourth of the cost.  The only plus that I find about this product is that it is sold at Nordstrom.  (Gotta love Nordstrom.)  So if you want to try it and decided that it’s not for you, Nordstrom will take anything back for a full refund.
